Meaning of BLOOD AVENGER

After the Flood God gave Noah the law that "he who sheds man's blood, by man his blood will be shed" (Gen. 9:6).

After the Flood God gave Noah the law that "he who sheds man's blood, by man his blood will be shed" (Gen. 9:6).

The law established the distinction between murderer and murderer; When a person was accidentally killed, the murderer could flee to one of the cities of refuge (see CITIES OF REFUGE) to be protected there from the avenger of blood.

Then it was considered that the executor of justice should be the closest relative of the murdered person.

God has invested man with governmental authority to maintain in force this universal command, given long before the Law of Moses, and which has never been revoked or mitigated.

In the NT it is mentioned that the magistrate does not carry the sword in vain, because he is a servant of God to punish those who do evil (Rom. 13).

Under the Law of Moses, “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” was enacted (Mt. 5:38; Ex. 21:24). For the Christian it is totally different: having been treated in grace, he must also act towards others with this same spirit of grace.

What he is told is: “Do not avenge yourselves, my beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord' (Rom. 12:19; Rev. 6:10; 19:2).

Now is the day of grace; But the day of vengeance is approaching that will fall on those “who do not know God, nor obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thes. 1:8).

The Christian's duty not to take revenge does not conflict in any way with the exercise of God's government by the magistrates, who derive their authority from Him in the repression and retribution of evil.

Trust in Him No matter what you are going through in life, you can trust God to be with you.

Some Positive Thing We Can Look at or Talk

Joyce Meyer
I once read a book that was based entirely on the word. He taught the reader to take each problem in his life, look at it honestly and then say “however,” and find something compensating positive in the individual's life that would put the problem into perspective.
The Bible makes it clear that we need to love each other as God loves us.

Learning the Love Languages

Gary Chapman
Many couples earnestly love each other but do not communicate their love in an effective way. If you don’t speak your spouse’s primary love language, he or she may not feel loved, even when you are showing love in other ways.
Why is it important to understand the distinction of the Spirit? Because He’s the one to whom we relate.

The Voice of the Spirit Within Us

Chris Tiegreen
We don’t understand the mysteries of the relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit, but we do know each has a distinct role in our lives. When Jesus tells His disciples about the work of the Spirit, He explains that the Spirit will hear from Jesus Himself, who in turn has heard from the Father.
If you already know the joy of Jesus, pray now for those who don’t yet understand that God wants them to invite his Son into their hearts.

Humbly Choosing God

Katie Brazelton
I’m convinced God will do anything for those who are meek, anything at all that’s in their best interest. When we humbly understand who we are in relation to him, our lives begin to make sense with a newfound confidence in him, his power, and his ways.
If you pursue anything in the spiritual realm, pursue a perfect balance of truth and love.

Truth and Love

John MacArthur
The apostle John was always committed to truth, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but it is not enough. Zeal for the truth must be balanced by love for people.
